LangPal End User License Agreement
Last updated: November 3, 2026
1. Acknowledgement
This agreement is between you and TSOI KONSTANTIN (Konstantin Tsoi), a sole proprietor trading as 쿨 개발 (Cool development) ("we", "us"), not Apple Inc. ("Apple"). We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the LangPal app (the "App") and its content. By downloading or using the App you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App. You must be at least 13 years old (or 14 if you live in the Republic of Korea) to use the App. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, you must obtain your parent or legal guardian's consent to this agreement and to purchases where required by applicable law. Connected AI services may have additional age and consent requirements.
2. Scope of license
We grant you a non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Other accounts associated with the purchaser may access, acquire and use the App through Family Sharing, volume purchasing or Legacy Contacts as permitted by Apple. This agreement does not override the usage rights in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions or the Volume Content Terms. You may not copy (except as allowed by this license and the Usage Rules), reverse-engineer, disassemble, modify, or create derivative works of the App, except where applicable law or the license of an included third-party component allows it. Purchases and refunds through the App Store are handled by Apple under Apple's terms, without limiting your rights under applicable law.
3. Your content and data
You retain any rights you have in the words, grammar notes, conversations and other content you add to the App; we do not acquire ownership of them. Dictionary material and other third-party content remain subject to their respective licenses. You give us permission to process and transmit your content only as needed to provide the features you request, including sending relevant content to AI providers as described in section 4. This permission does not authorize advertising use or sale of your content and does not replace any consent required by law.
Your saved learning library and review history are stored on your device and, if enabled, in your own iCloud account. AI features transmit relevant content outside that library as described below. A LangPal account is needed to buy or restore a subscription; the App can create an anonymous account if you have not signed in. We keep account and sign-in information, purchase and subscription records, and AI usage records such as the task, model, tokens and cost. Our privacy policy at https://applangpal.com/privacy.html explains data processing, retention, service providers and your choices.
4. AI features
With an active Basic or Plus subscription, you can use LangPal AI. Requests pass through our server to OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to. Depending on the feature, requests may include words you add, review answers, conversation messages, and relevant words and grammar from your library. These providers process requests under their own applicable terms and privacy policies, as explained in our privacy policy.
You can also choose a supported AI service connected with your own API key, whether or not you have a LangPal subscription. Those requests go directly from your device to the service. Your API key is stored in Apple's Keychain and may sync between your devices through iCloud Keychain, depending on your settings; it is sent to the connected service to authenticate requests, not to our server. You are responsible for complying with that service's terms, including rules for third-party apps, and for charges under your own account. LangPal subscriptions and usage packs do not pay those charges.
AI answers, translations and grading can be wrong. The App is a language-practice aid; check important information independently and do not rely on its output for medical, legal, financial or other consequential decisions. Accepting this agreement does not replace any separate permission required before sharing personal data with an AI provider.
5. Subscriptions and usage packs
LangPal Basic and LangPal Plus are auto-renewing monthly subscriptions sold through the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple may charge for renewal within the 24 hours before that period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. Prices, included features, allowances and any introductory offer are shown before you buy; after an introductory offer ends, the displayed regular subscription price applies. Apple administers subscription price changes and any required notice or consent.
Each plan includes a monthly allowance of LangPal AI usage that resets when a new subscription period starts; unused monthly allowance does not carry over. Usage depends on the AI processing required, including the model and the length of requests and replies, rather than a guaranteed number of messages. An interrupted response may still count toward usage. When the allowance and any extra usage are used up, LangPal AI pauses until your next renewal unless you buy an extra usage pack. Internet access is required for AI requests.
Usage packs are one-time purchases available to active subscribers. Their unused usage is applied after the monthly allowance, does not expire, and remains associated with your account when your subscription lapses, for use when you subscribe again. Refunded purchases do not provide an ongoing entitlement to the refunded usage. The allowance and packs are usage limits, not money: they have no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred to another person. This does not prevent restoring your own eligible purchases through the App. We may change the AI models we use while keeping the purchased service comparable; material changes are subject to section 14 and applicable consumer rights.
Cancelling renewal normally leaves paid access available until the end of the current paid period, subject to refunds, termination under section 14 and applicable law. Deleting the App or your LangPal account does not cancel your App Store subscription; you must cancel it through Apple. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, without limiting our obligations or your statutory remedies. Nothing in this agreement removes any refund or other remedy required by law.
6. Maintenance and support
We alone are responsible for any maintenance and support of the App. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. Contact: [email protected].
7. Warranty and mandatory rights
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are responsible for any express or legally implied warranties that have not been validly disclaimed. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are our sole responsibility. Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits your mandatory consumer rights or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. In particular, the exclusions and cap in section 12 do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
8. Natural voice (Supertonic 3) and use restrictions
The App offers an optional download from Apple's servers of the Supertonic 3 speech model, copyright (c) Supertone Inc. (the "Model"), which runs on your device to read text aloud. The Model is licensed under the BigScience Open RAIL-M License (August 18, 2022), and in particular paragraph 5 and Attachment A (Use Restrictions) of that license, which you can read in full in the App under Settings > Voice > Voice acknowledgements. Speech produced by the Model is synthetic and machine generated; if you share audio generated by the Model, make clear that it is synthetic. As a condition of using the Model through the App, you agree to comply with paragraph 5 and Attachment A of the Open RAIL-M License and agree not to use the Model, any derivative of it, or its output:
- (a) In any way that violates any applicable national, federal, state, local or international law or regulation;
- (b) For the purpose of exploiting, harming or attempting to exploit or harm minors in any way;
- (c) To generate or disseminate verifiably false information and/or content with the purpose of harming others;
- (d) To generate or disseminate personal identifiable information that can be used to harm an individual;
- (e) To generate or disseminate information and/or content (e.g. images, code, posts, articles), and place the information and/or content in any context (e.g. bot generating tweets) without expressly and intelligibly disclaiming that the information and/or content is machine generated;
- (f) To defame, disparage or otherwise harass others;
- (g) To impersonate or attempt to impersonate (e.g. deepfakes) others without their consent;
- (h) For fully automated decision making that adversely impacts an individual's legal rights or otherwise creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation;
- (i) For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against or harming individuals or groups based on online or offline social behavior or known or predicted personal or personality characteristics;
- (j) To exploit any of the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age, social, physical or mental characteristics, in order to materially distort the behavior of a person pertaining to that group in a manner that causes or is likely to cause that person or another person physical or psychological harm;
- (k) For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics or categories;
- (l) To provide medical advice and medical results interpretation;
- (m) To generate or disseminate information for the purpose to be used for administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration or asylum processes, such as predicting an individual will commit fraud/crime commitment (e.g. by text profiling, drawing causal relationships between assertions made in documents, indiscriminate and arbitrarily-targeted use).
You must stop any use of the Model that violates these restrictions. We may suspend access to the Model through the App or terminate your App license as provided in section 14. Rights granted directly under the Model's license remain subject to that license's own terms.
9. Third-party components and agreements
The App includes open-source software and data, including sherpa-onnx (Apache-2.0), ONNX Runtime (MIT) and dictionary data derived from the Korean Learners' Dictionary (한국어기초사전) by the National Institute of Korean Language (국립국어원), used under CC BY-SA 2.0 KR. Our processed version of that dictionary data is published under the same license at https://github.com/finaljumper/langpal-krdict. The full licenses and notices are in the App's Settings. Those licenses govern their respective components and take precedence over this agreement if there is a conflict concerning those components. You must comply with applicable third-party agreements when using the App, including the terms for connected AI services, Apple services and your network service.
10. Product claims
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to meet any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
11. Intellectual property
If a third party claims that the App or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
12. Limitation of liability
Subject to section 7 and only to the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or loss of data, arising from your use of the App. Subject to the same exceptions, our total liability arising from the App and services under this agreement is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid for the App, LangPal subscriptions and LangPal usage packs in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) USD 50 (or the equivalent in your currency). Payments to an AI provider under your own account are not payments to LangPal. This cap does not limit refunds or other mandatory remedies, or apply where the limitation would be unlawful or unfair under applicable consumer law.
13. Legal compliance
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a region subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" region, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
14. Termination and changes
This license is effective until terminated. You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend affected services or terminate your App license for a material breach of this agreement. Where a breach can be corrected, we will normally give you notice and a reasonable opportunity to correct it before termination. We may act immediately where required by law or where reasonably necessary to prevent serious harm, fraud, a security threat or unlawful use of the Model. Termination does not transfer ownership of your content to us, remove accrued rights or statutory remedies, or terminate rights granted independently by third-party licenses. Subscription cancellation remains subject to section 5; ending this agreement or deleting an account does not itself stop Apple billing.
We may update this agreement to reflect changes to the App, legal requirements or our services. For material changes, we will give notice in the App at least 30 days before the proposed effective date, or longer where required by law. Shorter notice may be necessary to meet a legal requirement or address an urgent security issue; we will explain that in the notice. We will request express acceptance of material changes before applying them to you. If you decline, the existing agreement continues to govern existing purchases unless lawfully terminated; we will explain any effect on future access or renewal and preserve any refund or other remedy required by law. Changes do not apply retroactively to accrued claims or remove rights to already purchased services contrary to applicable law.
15. Governing law and disputes
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, except where the law of your country of residence gives you rights that cannot be waived. The courts of Seoul, Republic of Korea have non-exclusive jurisdiction; this does not restrict any right you have under mandatory law to bring or defend a claim in your country of residence. If any part of this agreement is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect to the extent permitted by law. This agreement, the applicable purchase terms shown before purchase and the third-party licenses it refers to govern your use of the App. Nothing here overrides binding pre-contract information or representations, your privacy rights, or mandatory consumer protections.
